Musk recently stated that he believes by the end of 2024, xAI will surpass OpenAI and DeepMind Google.

In collaboration with Oracle, billionaire businessman Elon Musk’s xAI intends to construct a supercomputer that will power the company’s upcoming “Grok” massive language model for artificial intelligence (AI).

A presentation made to stakeholders in xAI, according to a story by The Information, described the project as a “Gigafactory of Compute” for developing and training the company’s next generation of Grok AI systems.

Musk had earlier attempted to raise $4 billion at a $15 billion valuation for the company, as Cointelegraph revealed in April. According to Musk’s subsequent comments, the money will be used to increase the number of GPUs at the company from about 10,000 to 100,000.

Soon after, it was revealed that Musk had increased the target to raise $6 billion at a $18 billion value because of strong investor interest.

If the information is accurate and xAI plans to construct a supercomputer, the money will probably be utilized to transform the cluster of 100,000 GPUs into a single supercomputer architecture, or as xAI refers to it, a “Gigafactory of Compute,” which is a reference to specific Tesla factories known as “Gigafactories.”

These actions are a result of Musk’s increasing aspirations for the company’s potential and advancement toward its eventual objective of creating an AI that can outsmart humans cognitively.

Speaking to attendees at the VivaTech 2024 conference in Paris, Musk expressed his belief that by the end of 2024, xAI will overtake industry leaders OpenAI and DeepMind Google. He continued by stating that he thought by the end of 2025, artificial intelligence would be able to perform all tasks more effectively than humans.

The richest man in the world, Elon Musk, claims that such a system may replace all human work, making us wonder why we even exist. “Does your life have meaning if the computer and robots can do everything better than you?” he said.

Musk did acknowledge that we could have to “give AI meaning” in the future.
